Confession time

I am wearing shoes I bought in 1998. That means I was 14. And that means I've owned the shoes for as long as I haven't.

But they're comfortable, black and warm. Since they're Doc Martens (wow, huh?), they're still in one piece. I got them at the old Nordstroms in Ogden — the one all of us kids in Logan used to drive down to once a year to make ourselves feel fashionable.

So, I ask: What is the oldest item of clothing in your closet that you still wear? Shoes, like me? A shirt? Are you lucky enough to fit into pants from high school still? I want to know.

I have some exercise pants that I got in Chicago when I turned 12. They are getting pretty tight, though, and the crotch has a split seam that I've sewn up. I can't make myself get rid of them though... I also have numerous t-shirts from high school as well as my Madrigal sweats. I'm not sure I'll ever get rid of something so comfortable until they fall apart.

I've gained too much weight to wear anything I wore in high school and I tend to wear through favorite shoes pretty quickly. The oldest item of clothing I can think of is a shirt I won as a debate trophy my freshman year. But I never wear it. I have jewelry I still regularly wear that's more than 10 years old though.

A junior high club t-shirt. SO worn, but so comfy.

I have those same shoes, remember? Ha. But in brown. And I've had them for just as long. I think I have some high school pants in my closet but never wear them even though they fit. I'm saving them to make a jean quilt at some point. I also have several shirts I wear to bed from high school that I just can't get rid of because they come from plays I was involved in and marching band. Ha. But those shoes take the cake. They're from junior high.

I just got rid of a bunch of stuff I'd had since jr. high. But I couldn't rid of a pink button up. It is an old standby.

I cracked up when I read this. I swear I remember you getting those doc martins. They were the coolest. I'm not sure what the oldest thing I have... but I still have a lot of clothes from high school. I think that most of my shoes have worn out. But then again... I think I have a pair of red ones I got when I was 15 or 16.
