Just some holiday retail cravings

While I'm aware it's still November and we're not even to Thanksgiving yet, I'm a sucker for pine cones, so you're getting some Christmas-oriented images today. (Also a sucker for just about everything at Pottery Barn, too, but that's besides the point.)

Oh, and everything from Crate and Barrel. And CB2. Hey, Crate and Barrel — think about Utah next time you're looking to build a new store, OK?

So, because I was geot married in December (five years ago — wow!) I was concerned about my reception being too Christmasy. I banished the color red, much to mom's dismay. She kept trying to sneak it in. My main colors were dark green and silver — with brown pine cones to supplement the whole thing. The next year, because of my color-of-red withdrawals, I bought all red Christmas decorations (with my huge $20-something budget).

So I'm thinking that explains why I clicked on this today.

I love it. But I always struggle with this kind of stuff — it takes up room (either while displayed or in storage) and is basically worthless for 340 days of the year. Oh well. That's what window shopping on the Internet is for.

Then there's always holiday eatery. Love it, but really — how many times am I going to use that? Especially since there's just the two of us and we're lucky to have more than two sit-at-the-table (or counter) dinners a week. Can't bring myself to pay for that. Maybe someday.

This one brought to you from IKEA, which I DO actually have access to. Finally. Loving the lines. And the squareness of it all.

If the ornaments are removable from that display piece, you could definitely make it work for more than one season. You could suspend photos from it with string/fishing line, or figure out a way to hang silk flowers from it.

I just like to justify shopping.
